North Canterbury Schools

The Project involved the expansion and upgrade to Oxford Area School, Rangiora Borough School, Ashgrove School and Southbrook School.

The works were amalgamated into a single contract in order to achieve economies of scale.

The project used underfloor heating and natural ventilation by means of actuated windows for cooling.

The Southbrook School building is a double storey structure connected to an existing block. A seismic gap was introduced to facilitate the connection.

Cuesko was involved in preliminary design costings to detailed design costing.

We assisted with tender process and reviewed and processed payment claims and variation requests till the completion of the final account.

This project had challenges which Cuesko has used as valuable experience for projects carried out since. Issues arose with Engineer and Architect design drawings differing and then changing mid tender meaning that measures and estimates were constantly being superseded.

Cuesko also allowed for a high variation contingency which the client chose to spend elsewhere
