Ellerslie Track Upgrade and Infrastructure

Upgrading the existing Ellerslie racetrack and constructing new infrastructure: the work involved covers, but is not limited to:

• -Bulk earthworks – including Main Track Area
• -Upgrading of the track (Specialised contractor from Australia).
• -New access roads, upgrading internal roads and new carparks
• -Irrigation pond, including waterproofing liner and drainage network.
• -New infield services & utilities (power, water, comms)
• -Construction of a precast concrete underpass (4mx4m), including retaining wall portals.

Cuesko were engaged by Auckland Thoroughbred Racing to provide quantity surveying and construction cost consultancy services for the project which includes, but is no limited to:

• -Concept Design and Detail Design estimating.
• -Tender analysis, recommendations
• -Post contract administration
• -Financial Reporting, incl. cashflow forecasting, etc.

The project involved significant challenges, notably the 2022 / 2023 weather impacts, rock encountered and the interface between the two main contractors.
