Kaitaia Sub-Acute Unit

Cuesko was approached by Health NZ to provide tender analysis and post contract cost administration on an open book “cost +” type of contract with the main contractor.

This project involved building a domestic scale, single unit, residential building on the site of the Kaitaia Hospital Campus, which will house up to 6 residents, with oversight by a staff member. The purpose of the building is to provide housing for low-risk mental health patients where they may reside temporarily for “time out” or when they have accommodation issues.

The residents cook and clean for themselves, therefore the building is as close to a domestic dwelling as possible, with the exception being anti-ligature fittings for door hardware, windows, light fittings, sanitary fittings, fire detectors and built-in beds and bedroom fittings.

Contract was completed on budget with minimal variations 5% of original contract value.
