The Airfields - Roads D & E

The Airfields project is a 20-hectare site located within the Hobsonville Precinct on Auckland’s North Shore.

The site was originally purchased by Waitakere City Council for a “marine precinct” and residential housing which has since been updated to an Employment Hub and residential housing.

Roads D & E are two of the boundary roads required under an ‘Infrastructure Agreement’ between Panuku Development Auckland and Hobsonville Land Company.

The project was funded by both stakeholders which resulted in complex cost reporting.

Cuesko’s role on the project was to provide full quantity surveying services from inception through to completion and involved preparing cost estimates for alternative options for the land development and the construction phase cost management for the boundary roads.

The challenges on the project included:
• Multiple stakeholders with varying cost share calculations for the project costs
• Unforeseen ground conditions and contamination
• Integration with a number of surrounding projects
• Deep stormwater and wastewater drainage
